Electrohydraulic Proportional (EHK) Control Systems

Updated 12/27/07

The Electrohydraulic Proportional control operates the reversing deflector proportional to the lever movement. The system is available with single or two-lever helm control for single or twin-jet respectively. The EHK control may be installed on all UltraJet models.

The economical EHK Proportional control has been used to control UltraJet-equipped boats since the early 1990’s. This system has been supplied for single and twin UltraJet propulsion systems since 1995.

This control system is based on Kobelt’s single or twin-lever helm units, the Kobelt 7173 Full Follow-up Amplifier and the Kobelt 7168 Rudder Angle Feedback Unit.

Output from the 7173 amplifier drives solenoid valves to actuate the reversing deflector(s) via hydraulic cylinders integral with the UltraJet waterjet propulsion units. The 7168 feedback unit then monitors reversing deflector position relative to the helm lever position.
Hydraulic flow and pressure is from standard jet-driven hydraulic pump or an optional engine or transmission-driven pump.

Steering

Customer preferred and supplied manual hydraulic steering is typical with the EHK control.

Optional hydraulic power-assisted steering OR electrohydraulic steering using the Kobelt 7172 Electronic Helm, 7166 Compact Electronic Helm, or 7171 steering Control Lever are available from Ultra Dynamics.

The steering of twin jets in monohulls is typically synchronized with a mechanical tie-bar.

Optional electronically synchronized steering for twin jets in catamarans.
